Apollo African Drumming Ensemble

The requested funds are for the purchase of a drumming package.  This assortment of drums would increase the students’ exposure to rhythmic study, teamwork and performance.  While the hope is to establish an African Drumming Ensemble, the drums would be used by all general music students.  They will be using an African Drumming Curriculum which not only aligns itself with the national and state standards for music, but exposes students to African culture and heritage.

Podcasting to Perfect Pupil Performance

This grant would provide five additional iPods and microphones for the library.  It currently has five iPods that the students use to create “podcasts” that are posted on the library website.  These shared works include: original poetry, music, speeches and interviews, simulated radio broadcasts, book reviews and reflective essays.  They are also used in the classrooms as part of a station activity, allowing students to view educational digital streaming video clips.

Chris Crutcher Visit*
